A lot of parents want to follow-up their children but to do this they need access to information from the school. A parent log in where the parents can get access to the childrens work, lesson plans, messages from the teachers, attandance data etc will give the parents ability to follow-up their children.
This feature could also be of relevance in other scenarios

I find it frustrating the amount of activity from the itslearning Team on this Ideas Portal. It is crucial for the success and credibility of a service like this that you are visible and show that you care about the ideas and comments from the community. And that you as a company give feedback on EVERY idea that pops up and actually implement the most requested in your product.

- It is unfortunately not possible to comment each idea we receive for our users. We have several channels and receive a couple of hundred ideas from our users every week. We appreciate all feedback and use them in our work with improve itslearning.
We take your point and will try harder to respond more often to your inputs.Please notice that the updates we do very often are a result of several ideas and it can be hard to link one new feature or enhancement to a single idea
