| Considered for Release
There is much discussion out there in the bloggersphere and at conferences on eLearning that the VLE is dead and the future lies with PLEs. I have been looking at ways to aggregate the various learning activities I do each evening - using twitter, blogs etc.
What would be very useful on It's Learning would be to have a partially pre-populated learning page to act as a stimulus and prompt for learning. Students visit the page which is suitable for their year group and find there a small number of interesting web links that might explore. They can then also add their own links and perhaps add RSS feeds there too. Each week a student might return to this page to explore some more and add to their learning network. The technology already exists for this - it is very similar to an eportfolio but with stuff already there rather than a blank page. What would be needed would be another tab for this and ways to edit and manage it.
Adding Tree Links - should open in new window

It is often useful to add Tree Links to content elements, especially in cross curricular teaching. Currently the link opens in the same window, thus taking the user to a different Course if the element is hosted in a different Course. It would be better if the link opened in a new window or at least there was an option to select, so that the user does not get taken away from the original Course, allowing both elements to be viewed side by side.
