Can there be an alert, like Skype, when you get a message?
Option to Prevent Pupils adding Threads to a Discussion

I like using discussions to get pupils to interact on a set issue, but on occasion I want them to keep their opinions to a fixed number of threads. My students seem unable to stop themselves from opening irrelevant or duplicate threads on the same discussion board, even if I request them not to.
Could you make permission to start threads optional when creating a discussion board? In other words, separate the ability to post to threads and the ability to create threads in the discussion permissions.

When creating a discussion forum, please provide the teacher with an option to use either a threaded or flat format. We currenlty only have the flat format available. This makes it very difficult to reply to others when there are many participants in the class.

I have experienced heaps of problems with the Java based forum that it's learning uses.
I've tried different Java runtime versions, but still, same problems.
I opt for a new forum discussion solution, that works, hopefully not implemented in Java.
The reply with quote works poorly. Some times I can only write in the header text field, but not in the content field, sometimes none at all.
Please, change the discussion module!
