  • My dashboard as starting page?

After login you're taken to the default dashboard which (usually I guess?) is the dashboard of the top hierarchy for your account. Since one size does not fit all, my suggestion is to make the starting page (your preferred dashboard) selectable in the user preferences. That is, if you like to have "My dashboard" (which you can customize) as the first page after login, you can do so. After all, people expect to be able to customize their dashboard, and starting off on the site dashboard does not allow you to. This creates some confusion among our users.

Bottom line - you should be able to select "My dashboard" as your default starting page.

For whom do we solve a problem :
    Users & administrators

    Why solve this problem? :
Improve ease of use. Added promotion/awareness of the "my dashboard" feature and the possibility of customizing your "it's learning experience". Fullfillment of expectations.

Maybe other pages in the hierarki could be set as starting page also.

I agree with this suggestion. I would like the oppotunity to guide users to specific dashboards, also for a limited period of time.

A time limit is a good idea. Makes it possible to get people's attention about important issues. Added, the admins could perhaps have the possibility to override user settings (for a limited time)?

More flexibility with the dashboards are definitely the way forward. They are an excellent tool to convey information to users and they are brilliant as a starting point for people who are reluctant to use the software, as they don't have to worry about creating courses, adding participants, etc. At the moment, administrators can set up profiles so that users are directed to either the main school dashboard or "My dashboard" but this proves extremely limited once you realise how useful dashboards can be. As John Allen suggested in an idea posted more recently, it would be brilliant if we could set up ANY hierarchy dashboard as the default one for that particular hierarchy.
