Presuming you are using Gmail with It'slearning ... you can access your email via a smart phone (Iphone, Android etc) or using a desktop client (Outlook or Outlook Express for example). Other than that I don't see any other way as enabling you to get to your emails much quicker than via your itsleaning site. Currently you would go to your URL, log in, click mail tab: that' three steps to read your emails ... how much quicker do you want it!

Its a real pity that itslearning very rarely reply to requests on this system other than put 'active' which means nothing and gives no idea of solution/timescales. I know thay are working on the option of letting schools take over the administration of Gmail directly if they want. I am already a Goggle Apps admininstrator for a corporate set-up, and if this works the same as I presume it would, users could then log in directly at an URL something like www.google.com/a/yourschool.itslearning.com

I think that when they solve the problem with the gmail user consolidation, we will be able to use our itslearning username as full normal gmail user (including direct access to email, igoogle, etc)

It would seem that itslearning has the email notification set up backwards. The default should be to forward all emails the the participants main email manager and to have them elect NOT to have these emails and itslearning communications forwarded. Since a user is required to include their email address when first signing into the system, it would seem that it wouldn't be a problem to set this as the default. Instead, users are required to go into the system, set up their message forwarding. Just another example of the too many clicks users are put through.
