Browser indepentant DirectEdit-functionality

We need DirectEdit functionality that is independant from Windows and Internet Explorer only.

it's learning is supposed to be platform independant, but has opted to keep one of the most useful features in teacher's daily work a Microsoft-only.

Many people use Firefox and some even Macs. We need the same functionality!

I agree here. I use a mac, and it really slows work down when I don't have access to a windows-computer with IE installed.

I vote for this. We were trying to set up an Edubuntu terminal server for some schools. Everything else was working fine, and the schools could have saved a lot of money, but since they lost DirectEdit-functionality the schools would not use it...

I completely agree with the OP. I use Chrome, as it is much much faster that IE, and I would like to be able to edit files without having to save them and upload them again manually.

Its 2011. The browser and OS market has changed a lot over the past 5 years. itslearning has to modernize the HTML and Javascipt, preferably HTML5.

I agree. I seldom use IE and for a lot of schools/customers Firefox/chrome are better alternatives.

I agree. Check also that DirectEdit works for Safari and Mozilla.
