If you are thinking of changing the points awarded to the student by the teacher I have no experience, but I believe it is possible (at least in theory) to change the preset maximum points for a specific open question. The trouble is: should you attempt this you will be bombarded with warnings of forced recalculations and possible errors... most likely putting you entirely off the idea of trying it. I ended up with manually recalculating the test in Excel...
