I´d like an Ipad (and Andriod?) app which allows the teacher to combine a calendar of choice, class/group lists, viewing/taking absence, assessing "on the fly", sending messages/mail/SMS and notetaking. Sharing options on the notetaking. Maybe also include an easy way of creating simple tests for collecting evidence about learning or to increase student involvement (a varient of the current tool).
For
whom do we
solve a problem
:
Teachers who would like a
seamless solution to use in the classroom, allowing for very simple
classroom assessment, immediate access to absence, taking notes that
are stored in the LMS for student and/or teacher access and
documentation of formative assessment. This saves time and makes
useful information more easily available (teacher can cary device
around when talking to students, making notes, checking previous
assessments and absence on the spot. Notes can be filed for student or
teacher only view.
Students get more immediate and frequent feedback.
Why solve this
problem?
:
Because useful features in
ItsLearning are made more available in a portable format.
Adding notes about what happens in the classroom is time consuming
when it has to be done after class.
Accessing data stored in ItsLearning can be very useful, but carrying
a laptop around and navigating the regular interface is cumbersome in
the classroom.
Assessment for learning is well catered for wich such a solution
because it is easier both to collect and record information about
student involvement and learning, and to make use of that information
in the classroom.
An app will allow for selecting only some of the features of the LMS,
providing a cleaner interface and easier use.
