Cleaner interface without frames and better overview

Roadmap
The frames and the overload of code makes the page very heavy to load. The frames creates unnecessary scrollbars.
This idea has been spilt into several ideas.
The following idea can be voted upon at the new idea entry.
The course reports is OK, but wouldn't it be more perspicuous if the all the reports had its own overview. It'll be easier to review each course at the same time instead of having to enter each and every single course to get the reports and grades ++.
The following idea can be voted upon at the new idea entry.
And the notification should be done in a better way. It should tell exactly what's new/just updated. Maybe on the front page? So you don't have to enter each course just to see that there's a new message in the forum you don't follow.

I second this.
The site's visual appearance feels a bit inconsistent. I'm left with the feeling of the site not having a strong visual design-concept to adhere to, and instead each piece growing on its own through the many iterations of the site.
The interface-design is my main grudge with using It's learning. Great features can easily give the appearance of being outdated and poorly implemented due to this lack of consistency, when they in fact are quite functional and efficient.
And, frames are evil.

I third this. The design needs a serious remake. And while you're at it, don't use tables for design either.

We are happy to inform you that we have made a design for this idea, and it is scheduled for release later this year.
The new solution does not have scrollbars in the navigation tree to the left. Now a scrollbar to the right is scrolling all the content, making the interface more dynamic. We have also made a new interface design. Take a look at the screen shot (click it for a larger version), and feel to free to comment on it.

I think the new interface should have the same icons as the current version. Icons are a great support for visually inclined people and freshens up the design. Don't skip on the icons. Even though there are mixed feelings about the current interface, there is nothing wrong with the current look and feel. This should also not in a noticable way be changed.

I agree on multiple things.
The design, sorry to say this but I also say it as a webdesigner, it is terrible.
Since 2006 I haven't seen frames and yes indeed the are evil. And it is because they don't function correctly on every browser.
Second the design that I saw in this 'topic' is quite good. It is more friendly and better designed.
I showed it to a couple of my friends that also use Itslearning and they agree with me.
Third, please think to the marges. In some browser I see that some frames/layers are a couple of pixels on the wrong side and make the design uckly.

When will it be released? The pinky color didn't quite match with the rest.
